Important Notes
Both you and your transcriptionist must have a Sonix account.
For Premium and Enterprise plans, you must have an admin role to manage transcriptionists in your Sonix account.
Sonix is not a vendor in this program, and all negotiations and agreements are between you and the transcriptionist.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. From your homepage, go to the Transcriptionist directory in the sidebar menu.
2. Browse available transcriptionists based on your specific needs and preferences, such as location and specialties. Transcriptionists are ranked based on their performance in a transcription test and the feedback provided by customers.
Gold Level Transcriptionist - High quality, excellent service, fast response time
Bronze Level Transcriptionist - High quality, good service, good response time
Transcriptionist - High quality transcription
3. Send a message to the transcriptionist you'd like to work with, including the total length of the file to be transcribed and a description of the project. Wait for their response and begin negotiating. If both parties agree on the rate and turnaround time, you can move on to the next step. Note that Sonix is not part of these negotiations and they should be treated with extra caution.
4. Invite them to your transcript by clicking the ‘Share’ button in the upper right corner of the transcription editor.
5. Enter the transcriptionist's email address and update the permission settings to ‘Can view and edit.’ You also have the option to add a personal message. Click ‘Share via email’.
Common Issues and Troubleshooting
What should I do if I’m having difficulty finding qualified transcriptionists?
Before hiring, give potential transcriptionists a short test task to evaluate their ability to use Sonix efficiently and accurately. This can help ensure you’re selecting someone who meets your specific needs. Also, pay attention to the specialties listed in their profile, such as interviews, legal, or medical transcription.
What steps can be taken to resolve discrepancies in agreed terms?
Maintain clear communication and document all agreed-upon terms. If any issues arise, try resolving them directly with your transcriptionist.
Frequently Asked Questions
What options do I have if I want to hire a transcriptionist who isn’t listed on Sonix’s page?
If you want to work with a transcriptionist who isn’t listed on Sonix’s Transcriptionist page, you have two options:
Add Them as a User – You can add the transcriptionist to your Sonix account for an additional $22 per month. This is ideal if you have many files to transcribe.
Share Individual Files – Use the ‘Share’ button in your Sonix account to send files to your transcriptionist. They will need their own Sonix account, but this option allows you to grant them edit access via email without additional user costs.
How can I find a transcriptionist with specialized knowledge?
The list of transcriptionists can be found at https://sonix.ai/transcriptionists. You can use the Ctrl+F (Windows) or Command+F (Mac) function to search for specialties, such as medical transcription, legal transcription, etc.
Can I change my transcriptionist after the project has started?
Yes, you can switch to a different transcriptionist if the current one isn’t the right fit. However, you’ll need to cancel the agreement with the current transcriptionist and pay for the first one before moving on to the second one. Be sure to communicate any changes and adjust the project terms accordingly.
Can you hire a transcriptionist for multiple projects?
Yes, there is no limit to the number of transcriptionists you can hire, as they often specialize in different areas. As long as both parties agree on the rate, payment method, turnaround time, and all other arrangements, you can work with multiple transcriptionists.
