Overview

The Storage Plan is available for customers who cancel their subscription but want to maintain access to their files in their original quality (without compression). It costs $5 per month for every 50GB of storage.

If your subscription is still active and you exceed your included storage limit, you will be automatically charged $10 for every additional 100GB.

Important Notes

  • The Storage Plan is not prorated. For example, even if you use only 10GB, the charge remains $5.

  • If you exceed 50GB (e.g., 51GB), the charge increases to $10 per month—$5 for the first 50GB and another $5 for the next 50GB of usage or any portion thereof.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Go to Sonix login page and use your registered email and password to access your account.

2. Navigate to the Billing section of your account.

3. Click ‘Cancel My Subscription’ and you will see all your files including the storage needed. From there, you can select ‘Store My Files’.

4. You will see the consent statement or payment authorization statement to indicate that you are giving informed consent to be charged. Click ‘Store My Files’ to confirm.

5. If you choose to purchase the Storage Plan, it will take effect in your next billing cycle. The $5.00 fee will be added to your next invoice, and you won’t need to make an upfront payment.

Common Issues and Troubleshooting

I received an email about being moved to the Storage Plan. Why did this happen?

If you haven’t transcribed any files for six months, your account is automatically transitioned to the $5/month Storage Plan to help preserve your existing files. You’ll receive an email notification informing you of this change. To avoid this automatic transition in the future, make sure to either transcribe a new file or manually cancel your plan if you no longer need the service.

I deleted folders to reduce storage, but the charges haven’t changed. What should I do?

When you delete files or folders, they’re moved to the trash and still count toward your storage usage. These files will be automatically deleted after 7 days, but you can clear the trash manually to free up space immediately and reduce your charges.

Additionally, Sonix offers an option to remove the original media file while keeping the transcript and a compressed version of the media. This allows you to significantly reduce storage usage without losing your transcript data.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I reduce my storage costs on Sonix?

To reduce storage costs, you can manually clear your trash. Deleted files remain in the trash for 7 days before they are automatically removed. Once files are permanently deleted, your storage charges will be updated accordingly.

Is there a way to save space without deleting my files completely?

Yes, Sonix offers an option to remove the original media file while keeping both the transcript and a compressed version of the media. This helps reduce storage usage without losing access to essential content.

I'm on the $5 Storage Plan—can I still upload files for transcription?

If you're on the $5 Storage Plan and want to upload files for transcription, you'll be prompted to upgrade to the Premium Plan. However, you also have the option to purchase transcription hours through the Standard Plan. The option to purchase hours via the Standard Plan doesn’t appear directly in your Sonix account. To access it, you'll need to use the link to our pricing page where you can select and purchase transcription hours.

I want to cancel my Storage Plan but don’t see an option to do it and delete my account. What should I do?

When you cancel your subscription, your account remains active until the end of your current billing period. During this time, the option to delete your account is not available in the My Account menu. If you'd like to delete your account immediately, please reach out to us. We can manually cancel your plan right away from our admin panel. Just note that when your account shows as “Cancelled,” it means it won’t auto-renew, and it will transition back to a trial account once the billing period ends.
