Important Notes
Deleting text removes only the written words in the transcript; the original audio remains intact.
Strikethrough not only marks the text as removed but also removes the corresponding audio in key scenarios.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Deleting Text:
Highlight the text you want to remove.
Press the Delete key
The text disappears, but the audio remains unchanged.
Using Strikethrough:
Highlight the text.
Apply Strikethrough via the editor toolbar or shortcut key (Ctrl + S).
The text is crossed out in the transcript, and Sonix will omit the associated audio during exports, playback, or embedding.
Common Issues and Troubleshooting
Why does the audio still play even though I deleted the text?
That’s expected. Deleting removes only the text, not the audio. Use strikethrough if you want to remove both.
What should I do if I don’t want a section played back or included in the export?
Apply strikethrough instead of deleting. This ensures the segment is omitted from exports, playback, and embeds.
Is there any difference when embedding the transcript in a media player?
Yes. Strikethrough ensures omitted audio isn't played in embedded views, while deleted text doesn’t affect the audio at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does deleting text remove audio?
No. Deleting text only removes the visible transcript text. The underlying audio remains in place.
Does strikethrough remove both text and audio?
Yes. Strikethrough both marks the text and ensures removal of the audio during export, playback, or embedding.
