Important Notes

  • Sonix automatically labels speakers as Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc.

  • You can manually merge or clear speaker labels to correct these issues.

Step-by-Step Instructions

How to Merge Speakers:

  1. Rename a speaker (optional): Change "Speaker 2" to "Speaker 1" in the transcript if you know they are the same person.

  2. Open the Fix Speakers menu: Click the “File” menu and select “Speakers Breakdown” and click “Fix Speakers.”

  3. Merge adjacent matching speakers: In the popup window, choose “Merge adjacent paragraphs with the same speaker name to automatically combine consecutive paragraphs labeled with the same speaker.

  4. Review the result: Paragraphs will be merged properly, and punctuation will be corrected.

How to Remove All Speaker Labels (Get Full Paragraphs):

  1. Open the "Fix Speakers" popup.

  2. Select “Condense and clear all speaker names.”

  3. Your transcript will have no speaker labels, with paragraphs condensed into larger sections (about 500 words each).

Common Issues and Troubleshooting

Why does Sonix detect extra speakers in my file?

Poor audio quality or overlapping voices can cause Sonix to misidentify speakers, splitting one speaker into multiple labels.

The 'Merge adjacent speakers' option didn’t fix my transcript. What else can I do?

Use the “Condense and clear all speaker names” option to remove all labels and combine the transcript into longer paragraphs.

Will merging speakers fix punctuation and paragraphing?

Yes, merging speakers will also correct paragraph breaks and adjust punctuation automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I manually rename speakers before merging?

Yes. You can rename any speaker (e.g., change "Speaker 2" to "Speaker 1") before running the Fix Speakers tool.

Will clearing all speaker names affect the transcript text?

No. Clearing speaker names only removes the labels; the transcript content remains unchanged, but the text will be grouped into larger paragraphs.

Can Sonix automatically detect and fix all speaker labeling errors?

While Sonix’s auto-labeling is accurate for most files, manual adjustments may be needed for low-quality recordings or complex conversations.
