Important Notes
Multi-track uploading is designed for recordings where each speaker’s audio is captured separately—for example, one track for Speaker A, another for Speaker B, and a third for Speaker C.
Multiple file uploads mean uploading several single-track recordings at the same time (e.g., Part 1 and Part 2 of a meeting). These are treated as separate transcriptions.
If you want a single transcript for multiple recordings, you’ll need to combine the audio files before uploading or merge the transcripts manually after transcription.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Log in to your Sonix account.
Go to the ‘Upload’ page.
From the sidebar, enable “Multi-track uploading.”
When you upload, choose whether you are uploading a multi-track recording (multiple isolated speaker tracks from the same meeting) or a single-track recording.
Tip: Only use multi-track upload if your audio files come from the same session and each track belongs to a different speaker. This allows Sonix to transcribe and align each speaker’s dialogue accurately.
Common Issues and Troubleshooting
Can Sonix merge my recordings automatically?
No. Sonix cannot combine separate recordings into a single transcript. You can either merge the audio files using external software before uploading, or transcribe each file separately and then copy and paste one transcript into the other.
What should I do if my upload failed or got stuck?
Make sure your internet connection is stable and that your files are in a supported format (e.g., WAV, MP3, M4A, MP4, MOV); note that large files may take longer to upload, so try compressing them first. If the problem persists, clear your browser cache or try another browser (Chrome works best with Sonix).
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I upload two recordings (Part 1 and Part 2) and get one continuous transcript?
No. You’ll need to merge them into one file before uploading or manually combine the transcripts afterward.
Does multi-track uploading cost extra?
No, but each track is processed separately, so total transcription time will depend on the length of all uploaded tracks.
