Common Issues and Troubleshooting

Why didn't it work when I pasted my video link?

Ensure your link is publicly accessible and not behind a login, age restriction, or geo-block. If Sonix can't access it, you may see an error.

Why can’t I transcribe audio from a CNN podcast link?

While Sonix supports many sites listed in the youtube-dl supported sites list, CNN podcast links are currently not supported. If you encounter errors when uploading from CNN, we recommend downloading the audio file directly to your device and then uploading it manually to Sonix for transcription.

Why does Sonix show a 'cannot connect to YouTube' error when I upload a Vimeo link?

This usually means the URL is invalid or the video has been removed. For example, if Vimeo shows “Sorry, we couldn’t find that page” when you open the link directly, the video is no longer available. Vimeo and YouTube also make frequent changes to limit direct downloads, which can cause errors. If you still have access to the video, the best solution is to download it directly from Vimeo and upload the file to Sonix for transcription.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are playlists supported?

No. You should provide a direct link to a single video; playlist URLs are not supported.

What should I do if my video link is restricted or private?

If you're working with restricted or private content that Sonix can't access via a public link, we recommend downloading the video file to your computer and uploading it directly to Sonix. This ensures the file is processed without access issues.
